Geography

At Fairfield, we want our geography curriculum to engender the excitement, creativity and critical thinking about the world that will equip young people to make their own way in it. We want our children to progress in Geography by demonstrating greater fluency with world knowledge by drawing on increasing breadth and depth of content and contexts that are revisited year on year, these extend from the familiar and concrete to the unfamiliar and abstract.

We also want our children to make greater sense of the world by organising and connecting information and ideas about people, places, processes and environments as the learn and work with more complex information about the world, including the relevance of people’s attitudes, values and beliefs.

In turn, we hope that children increase the range and accuracy of their investigative skills and advance their ability to select and apply these with increasing independence to geographical enquiry.
